The 3 Hour Diet is the brainchild of Californian AOL weight loss and fitness coach Jorge Cruise, touted as “America’s Leading Weight Loss Expert” and author of The 3 Hour Diet: How Low-Carb Diets Make You Fat and Timing Makes You Thin. The power behind this diet lies in timing your food intake along with portion control, the theory being that if you raise the baseline metabolic rate (BMR) you will burn fat. In order to do this 5-6 meals a day are taken at specific intervals. Breakfast is to be eaten 1 hour after getting out of bed, then eating every 3 hours throughout the day with no food to be taken 3 hours before bedtime.
Mr. Cruise also maintains that there are no bad foods just bad portions. Each meal is limited to 400 calories and snacks to 100 calories for a daily caloric intake of 1400-1500. Exercise is also a proponent of this diet as explained in his best selling books ‘The 12 Second Sequence’ and ‘8 Minutes in the Morning’.
This style of diet has been shown to be most effective in reducing binge or emotional eating habits and has been actively promoted by Oprah on her national television program. Further information can be found at www.3hourdiet.net.
