When it comes to your health, you want to do everything that you can to keep it in line. Unfortunately, some people find that the harder they try to control the amount they eat, the more likely it is that they are going to binge eat and take in more calories than they would have when just eating a regular meal. Binge eating is fairly common for those who are overweight and not able to get the pounds to slide right off like they want. There are also many causes of this disorder that are making it almost impossible not to eat the extra food that is around. Some of the causes of this disorder include: · Mental health disorders—in some cases, the mental state of the person who is binge eating is not as good as it should. Almost half of those with this disorder are going to have some history with depression, although this link is not fully understood. Many people report that the episode of eating will be triggered by anxiety, boredom, sadness, and anger. · Eating disorders—it is often the case that the person who is binge eating has an eating disorder. Sometimes this will run in the family and other times it is just the individual who is dealing with it. This shows that the disorder could be something that is inherited. · Family—often if you are someone with this disorder you came from a family that would overeat a lot or they would put a lot of emphasis on food. They may use food as their way to soothe you or as a reward for doing something great. This can make the eating become a response of the body when it is being stressed out by something. · Medications—there are some medications that can cause you to binge eat, making it more difficult to stop because you need those medications for one reason or another. Talking to your doctor about the issue and discussing some other medications you can take can often be a great course of action. The exact cause of binge eating is not really known yet, but researchers think that the things above are sometimes a link that could start the habit of eating too much food even though someone is not hungry or does not need the food. Dealing with these issues can sometimes help stop the eating issue and get you back on track to being healthy again.
