Have you ever compared the "original" product with the "low fat" alternative? I was eating low fat salad dressing for years thinking that I was doing myself a favor. Then I decided to see how much lower the fat really was, so I picked up the two bottles and compared. The fat was definitely lower, but I just happened to notice that the sugar was way higher – and so were the calories!

Gotta love those neaky labels. I too regularly fall into the "it's low fat it MUST be good trap" lol I have taken to making my own dressing. I teaspoon of olive oil (yes i know it's oil but oh well I need a little healthy fat in my diet) and then I mix it with a little bit of balsamic vingegar. It's not fancy but it tastes pretty good and I know exactly what I am putting in my body.

I’ve started doing the exact same thing. I found it too frustrating to stand there staring at the packages and feeling like the “salad dressing people” were somehow out to get me. I use olive oil and balsamic vinegar, but I also add a crushed garlic clove and let that sit in the mix for a while, then I scoop out the garlic and use the flavored oil/vinegar. Somehow it makes me feel like I’ve outsmarted someone
