Have you ever compared the "original" product with the "low fat" alternative? I was eating low fat salad dressing for years thinking that I was doing myself a favor. Then I decided to see how much lower the fat really was, so I picked up the two bottles and compared. The fat was definitely lower, but I just happened to notice that the sugar was way higher – and so were the calories!

Gotta love those neaky labels. I too regularly fall into the "it's low fat it MUST be good trap" lol I have taken to making my own dressing. I teaspoon of olive oil (yes i know it's oil but oh well I need a little healthy fat in my diet) and then I mix it with a little bit of balsamic vingegar. It's not fancy but it tastes pretty good and I know exactly what I am putting in my body.

I’ve started doing the exact same thing. I found it too frustrating to stand there staring at the packages and feeling like the “salad dressing people” were somehow out to get me.I use olive oil and balsamic vinegar, but I also add a crushed garlic clove and let that sit in the mix for a while, then I scoop out the garlic and use the flavored oil/vinegar. Somehow it makes me feel like I’ve outsmarted someone
