  • Avoid cleanses and detoxes

Just avoid cleanses and detox weight loss strategies, including teas and any diet plan that has a "detox" or "cleanse" phase. None of these will do good things for your body. In fact, they're likely to set you back in terms of you weight loss progress and lead to a bunch of messy and bad side effects that will make you feel worse than better. Also, remember, you never need to cleanse your body...your organs like your liver and kidneys do that naturally. If you want to support your organs in their efforts, drink plenty of water and eat well. That's all there is to "natural" cleansing :)

Yes! I agree. Cleanses and detoxes are the worst! These are actually toxic practices not cleansing ones. Sure you'll flush out everything form your body but that's because you're either drinking nothing but liquids or your taking things that are full of diuretics and laxatives, neither of which are idea for weight loss. Plus, when you initially lose weight following these plans, you're only losing water weight. Not only will this come back but you will also wreck your metabolism, making it harder for you to burn calories and shed the fat that your body is holding on to because it was forced into starvation mode.

Yeah cleanses are bad. I mean I think the reason that many people recommend them is simply because you see fast slimming results. That said, you feel bad and it doesn't laugh. Think of it as patching a leak in your roof with a piece of bubble gum...sure, it might help with the immediate issue but it's not going to solve the problem until you get your roof replaced.

Hahah! Exactly! Love the leak analogy :)

It freaks me out that people still need to be warned about this. I mean, who can you logically believe that having an all-liquid diet is good for you! Unless you've got some health condition where having such a diet offers benefits that outweigh the risks why would you ever put your body into starvation mode? It's uncomfortable, unhappy and you're just making your weight loss all the harder in the long run...

Agreed. I can't believe that people still need to be reminded not to do stupid stuff like this. Honestly, how can anyone think that consuming only liquids or limiting their calorie intake to such a degree can be good for them or that whatever weight loss that results can be long-lasting...
