What are the options

I don't plan on having surgery to fix my weight loss problem anytime soon or anything, but I was wondering what the different types of surgery options are. Is there one that offers the best results?

There are different kids of surgeries like gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass surgery, biliopancreatic diversion and I think there are a few others. Most of these surgeries are pretty invasive and they really should be a last resort. Some of them like bilopancreatic diversion, for instance, sound quite freaky. For that surgery, up to 70% of your stomach is removed and and there's even a bigger bypass of your intestine compared to gastric bypass surgery.

I think they all provide benefit in one way or another. As for what's best, I would think the one that is least invasive and posses the least risk and complications is the best one.

I think Jan covered most of the different types of surgeries. As for which one is the best, I think that depends on how much weight a person needs to lose and also which procedure makes the most sense to their lifestyle, etc. That's really something that can only be discussed with a doctor who has experience in Bariatric Surgery.
