  • What are some obvious signs that weight is affecting your health

What are some signs that you can see and feel that are an indication that weight is effecting your health? So I don't mean like going to the doctor and getting your blood pressure checked or something, but like a side effect that you can physically (or emotionally) experience.

Your joints hurt, your stamina is low, you find it harder to go up the stairs without huffing and puffing. Those are some easy ones.

Yeah, I think the most obvious sign is that you notice you sweat more and you breathe heavier for doing only something easy, like going up a few flights of stairs. If you feel like you've run a mile and you've barely moved, you're likely out of shape and overweight.

Okay so mostly you'll feel it in your breathing? And fatigue? Any other signs?

Those are the main ones. I mean, other than that, if you notice you've put on a lot of weight and your normal clothes aren't fitting you any more and your BMI has dipped into the high scale, even if you're not feeling physical symptoms, you should lose weight. It's way better to protect your health as much as you can before symptoms start. Once there are symptoms, in some cases, this means damage has already been done. Point being, don't wait for signs. If you know you're overweight (even by only a little) start doing something about it now.

I agree, if you have reason to believe you're overweight and your BMI is dipping into the overweight range or is very close to it, it's better to do something sooner rather than later. Likewise, keep in mind that even if you are in a healthy BMI range, this doesn't mean that you are in shape and healthy. If your body's fat ratio is higher than your muscle ratio, this isn't great. Doing exercises to help build burn fat and build muscle is good for anyone at any age.
