  • Avoid artificial sweeteners

Artificial sweeteners aren’t all that they’re cracked up to be. All of those low-cal or zero-cal sweeteners look like they’ll let you have your favorite foods like soda, without any consequences, but in actuality, they mess up your metabolism and your insulin production so that they don’t help at all. Studies are starting to show that they actually make you hungrier than you’d usually be! There also isn’t a single large reputable study that shows that they even help with weight loss at all. When you say a product that says “diet”, it refers to a special diet, such as for people who have diabetes, not a weight loss diet.

Artificial sweetener can lead to seizures, headaches and attention deficit disorders. Many people experience heart palpitations, constipation and swelling of certain body parts after consuming this artificial sweetener.

That's true, Nancy101, and it really shows that those artificial sweeteners are doing a lot more to your body than just tricking it into thinking that it's having sugar without calories in it. I've cut them out of my diet completely and my weight loss is going just fine. I refuse to be a guinea pig for more products than I have to be in life.

Even though I like my splenda I know you guys are so right. Better off just to have the real sugar now and then in real moderation. Or maybe the brown sugar so it's not so refined...

What about honey? Is it any better than refined or raw sugar? I know its calories are still high, but is it at least healthier or better for weight loss?
