  • Stop weighting yourself too often

I think it's important to maintain control of your weight, but you shouldn't obsess too much over it. Try not to weight yourself too often either, or use the quantum scale, the one that records your weight but doesn't display it, it just tells you your progress. The reason I'm saying this is because when your weight reaches a plateau it gets harder and harder to lose those pounds and you might begin to feel frustrated and lose motivation.

Stay positive, keep a good attitude and reward yourself a little something after each successful week of dieting; positive reinforcement really works.

That's a good tip. Even Weight Watchers recommends that you weigh yourself only once per week, on the same day of the week, at the same time, either naked, or wearing the exact same clothing.

Your weight will fluctuate somewhat throughout the week, so you are just torturing yourself if you obsess over the scale.

If you're in a workout program and hired a personal trainer, they will definitely weigh you at least every week or every two weeks to see if you progresses and lose some weight. The safest you can lose in a week is around 2 lbs.

Try focusing on health instead of weight. By giving yourself a broader goal, you'll start to concentrate on what is right overall instead of the number that pops up on your scale.

I've been on a program that focuses a lot more on building muscle mass and exercising than it does on eating less. I'm supposed to eat healthy, but I don't concentrate as much on calories as I do on making sure that I'm getting lots of healthy exercise because muscles are natural fat burners, all on their own. So if I weigh myself, it doesn't necessarily look like I've lost much weight, because I've been building muscle, but I've lost inches off my waist, thighs, and butt! Even off my arms :) So you can't always trust your scale as the only sign of having lost fat. You might have replaced it with muscle! Use lots of different signs like measuring yourself, too.
