When over half the population of a nation is considered “overweight” by CDC standards you know there’s a problem. I like to call that problem: temptation. There are simply too many tasty foods and beverages out there. There are Starbucks mochas, Lindt chocolate truffles, chocolate covered bacon snacks, cheese balls, Hot Pockets, frozen pizzas, pizza delivery, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
There are more ways and cheaper ways to get fat than to stay thin. Think about how much whole foods actually cost and compare them to Kraft Mac-n-Cheese which tastes better than celery any day of the week! Would you rather spend $.59 on a dinner that tastes super good, or $3.85 for peanut butter and celery? See what I mean?
I feel your pain and as such I have some weight loss tips to help you get through the trials and tribulations of dieting and weight loss that actually make sense for your taste buds and budget.
Cheese. Eat a lot of cheese. Cheese is the low-carb dieter’s friend, and it tastes so good! Put it on burgers, mix it with sausage, cut it and have it as a snack. There are hundreds of different cheeses in the world so you can mix up the diet depending upon your preferences just by adding cheese.
Be Realistic About Exercise. Of all the weight loss tips I can possibly give you this is the most realistic and useful. Don’t pretend to be someone you are not. If you’re not a runner now, chances you still won’t be a few months after you lose the weight. You’ll end up quitting your form of exercise if you don’t already like doing it. If you like to dance, put on music every day and dance to that. If you are a chatter, get a girlfriend and go walking. Whatever form of exercise you choose, make sure you’re really into it or you will stop.
Say No To High Fructose Corn Syrup. Remember a second ago when I told you that I was about to tell you the most useful weight loss tip of them all? I lied. This one is. If you can completely cut out High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) then do it. Natural sugar is much better for you and studies have proven you can lose pounds each week just by making the switch. I know that I personally lost 6 lbs in one week after I cut out HFCS. While I may have changed other things too (I can’t remember) that was what stuck in my mind as being a significant change in my diet.
Yogurt. Yogurt is one of those products that I cannot stand the taste of, but have to mention because it is super good for you. It contains a lot of the bacteria we need for a healthy digestive tract. If you are like me and don’t like the taste of yogurt then buy yourself some probiotics and take those. They contain the same bacteria without the yogurt taste.
These were but a few weight loss tips. I promise to share more as I think of them.
