  • Skinny doesn't mean healthy

I just wanted to point out that being skinny does not mean that someone is healthy. Just because you aren't overweight or obese doesn't mean that you're the poster of health. Healthy is a matter of eating well, making healthy food choices, exercising, and being in your normal BMI range. That may mean you're slim or it might mean you're not. Don't let a magazine or the mirror dictate your level of health.

Right you are Anne. I'm tired of everyone thinking that they need to be skinny in order to look good or be healthy. We're all different shapes and sizes. The healthiest and most attractive you may not be skinny and that's FINE.

Argh! I know! I've known a skinny person who can eat tons of junk and not gain a pound. He's got the worst diet, but isn't fat. However, that doesn't mean that he's healthy! Just because your slim doesn't mean you can't have high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or lots of other problems. Healthy is healthy no matter your size.

I agree that skinny doesn't necessarily mean healthy. Being underweight can be just as bad for a person as being overweight. It really is about finding the right balance (aka staying within your normal - healthy - BMI).

Agreed, Anne. I think we'd all be doing a little better if we weren't obsessed with self-image in relation to our physical appearance. We'd all be a lot better off if we were obsessed about being healthy instead of trying to look like photoshoped models and celebrities wearing pounds of makeup.
