If you want to lose weight, walk to the store. If you HAVE to drive, park far away so you get a bit of a walk.

That's a really good idea. Especially because most places that we consider to be within "walking distance" are usually only five or ten minutes away. That amount of time isn't going to cut into the day too much. If you can't give yourself 10 to 20 minutes extra to get to a place then you aren't managing your time properly.

I have been trying a variation of this so that whenever I’m not too far from somewhere (like a corner store that is only about three blocks from here) then I have to jog all the way there and walk all the way back. At first I was going to jog both ways, but it’s too awkward when I buy something and have to bring it home.
