  • Don't try to be perfect

The best dieting tip I ever got was to not try to be perfect. Instead, have goals and strive for them. Even if you do everything perfectly, things won’t work out exactly as you think they will. There will be times when you find it really hard, times when you don’t have much choice what you eat, and then you’ll hit plateaus. Instead, just keep pushing toward your goal, even if there are some lumpies in the road.

That’s actually a really good piece of advice. I think the main problem that we have is in what our idea of perfect actually is. If we’d stop thinking that perfect is that super skinny photoshopped body and if we start thinking of it as a realistic version of ourselves at our fittest and healthiest then we will have a much better goal in our heads and we’ll stop being so hard on ourselves all the time.

That's really hard to do. Even though I know I've done great with my weight loss, I still look at myself in the mirror and see parts of me that I wish I could change. I think it's in our nature to always be a little bit dissatisfied with ourselves, even if it's stupid to be like that

I've been rethinking my opinion on this subject. I think that I have changed my mind about what I think is a good goal. I think that we SHOULD try to be perfect, but not be disappointed in ourselves when we still have certain things that we would consider to be flaws. The reason that I think we should keep aiming for perfection is that we don't just settle for what we have achieved. Instead, we always try to improve our health and looks. As long as we're not actually unhappy with what we have achieved, then we can still try for that idea of perfection.

Couldn't agree more! I also believes it boils down to self-confidence. You need to believe in yourself. I've always found that anytime I've failed at something it's because my heart wasn't in it. The motivation others provide is great but it's no where near as important as self-motivation and encouragement.
