You can actually make a notable difference to you weight if you just naturally choose to eat less of your regular diet and move around more. Seriously, if you say "no" to you usual second helping or that extra cookie. If you drink less soda, take the sugar and milk out of your coffee and park far enough away from a building so you walk that extra few steps...all of it can be very very helpful in helping you shed those extra pounds. It's a perfect jumping off point to help you realize it's possible to drop those extra pounds.

You know, I've heard this over and over again and I've never actually believed it, but honestly, I've reached a point where I just need to do something that sounds as simple as this. I'm tried of constantly feeling like a failure in diets. I always end up going back to old habits and being disappointed in myself and I'm tired of it. I'm gonna give this a try starting today and see if my weight comes down in two weeks. Wish me luck!

I just want to add that while I do agree with what you're saying, remember that when you say "no" to seconds, it's going to be hard because you'll probably still feel very hungry. It's important to do something active to help you overcome this desire for more food until your brain has time to catch up with the rest of your body and you'll feel satisfied. So, whether this means keeping your hands busy, taking a walk, playing a game or whatever, distracting your mind will go a long way in helping you esablish new eating habits based around sticking to smaller portion sizes. Remember, it's not simply a matter of making one change, usually, you need to make a number of changes (e.g. eating more but small meals, snacks, etc.) to find what works.
