A fitness tracker - even the most basic ones that only count steps and monitor your heart rate- are a great investment. The only way to really keep track of your weight loss, exercise, etc. is to pay attention to how much your are moving and what you are putting in your body. Yes, it sucks to track what you do all the time, but ti's the only way to really get a good idea of how you're doing and were you are in your goals. You might find that it will also help to keep you motivated and interested in trying new things. So, count those calories and track those steps and you will see a difference!

Personally, I think fitness trackers are overrated. My phone fitness tracking app does what I need it to do so I'm not going to spend a whole bunch of more money to wear another device on my wrist that does what my phone does. Also, I don't think that fitness trackers are great at tracking other things like sleep, etc.
Don't get me wrong, if you want one, then go for it, but if you're like me and your phone is doing everything you need it to do right now, why bother invest in yet another device. Keep your money and spend it on something else you want.

Plus, since there are so many fitness tracker options, it's not like you have to spend a fortune on the very best product. You can get a decent low-cost device for a good price.

I think a fitness tracker is worth looking into as well. I get why you might not want to drop hundreds on it to start, especially if you're not sure you'll even like it, but there are a number of great cheap options out there that you can try first to see if you even like it before you invest in something a little more high-tech from a known brand.

A fitness tracker is only worth the money if you actually intend to use it. If you're just going to stick it on your risk and look at what's recorded but not actually do anything about it or use the information to your advantage to improve your health, etc., it's honestly a waste of money.
