I know that exercise is an important part to losing weight, but I struggle finding motivation to do it sometimes. It's not because I"m tired, don't have time or I"m lazy, it's because I find it so dreadfully boring at times. My favorite exercise is walking but even that gets old, especially when you're doing it by yourself with no other person, no dog, etc. Can anyone suggest some ways I might find exercise more fun. I'd really like to start looking forward to it.

How can I make exercise more interesting

Maybe try walking in a new area where you've never been before. Sometimes, instead of just walking around your neighbourhood, either visit another one or take your car to a waterfront (if you have one nearby) or some other interesting area that has caught your interest and check it out. While it wouldn't make sense to do this everyday, it's a good way to switch things up. You can also try walking around the mall or you can try plogging (also mentioned somewhere on this forum) which is essentially picking up trash and recycling as you walk. This gives you something to do while you walk and you're doing something good for the environment at the same time , so it's a win-win. Also, if you like the idea of walking dog, maybe you can look into becoming a dog walker? Get your walk in, socialize with a dog and make money at the same time - pretty cool!

Why don't you try a new type of exercise? Try going to a class or trying out a new machine at the gym. Have you ever considered swimming? How about a dance class even. There are lots of interesting ways to get exercise if you are tired of the exercise that you currently do. I personally find when I mix things up, I never really get bored of any of them. :)

I have to agree that the best thing to do is to try something new. If you are finding that you don't like the exercise you're currently doing, then you need to make a change. think of what you like doing and then think about how you can turn that into a physical activity. Not sure how to do that? Then start looking up different ways to workout and be active online and you might come across new activities that seem interesting to try.

Alright. Maybe I'll try joining a class or going for a swim. Actually, swimming may be a really good one considering how many calories you burn and how much energy you need to do it. It would give your muscles a good workout, too....but...I do hate the idea of swimming in a public pool....guess I'll just have to install my own hahaha. Yeah, right!
