  • Exercise every single day!

When you want to lose weight, it’s not enough to just exercise three times a week or even five times a week. Instead, you have to get yourself out there and make sure that you’re being active for a bare minimum of 30 minutes every single day. It would be even better if you could do 30 minutes of activity twice per day. So if you want to take a lazy day, then make it one in which you do 30 minutes of activity instead of the full 60!

This is true, but when you've been sedentary for a long time, it can be really hard. You might have to build up to 30 minutes or 60 minutes if you're starting from a lifestyle of being pretty much inactive. It's best to talk to your doctor about what is right for you instead of just saying that a certain length of time is right for everyone.

I exercise every day of the week except one. I always give myself a day off because if I don't, I"ll lose my motivation. I like exercising, but only as long as I don't feel "forced" to do it. As soon as that happens, I feel resistant to going out and exercising and I'll come up with any excuse to avoid it. I don't give a specific day of the week that I take off of exercising, but I allow myself one day every week, and that's it. I take it when I feel that I "need" it, and am all the more motivated for it.

Make sure you enjoy your exercise program. Some people like classes. Some people don't. Choose what's right for you so it becomes something you actually look forward to.

Very good advice! Change things up, too, so they don't get boring over time.

You're right. You have to do what's right for you and your health. Just make sure that you get some exercise in there every day and work with what you can safely do.

On the weekend, i count my housecleaning as exercise so I don't have two chores in one day haha

Swimming is such a great exercise. You burn loads of calories but you don't put any strain on your joints. Plus it works out muscles over the whole body. Good choice, Mistygreen.

If you exercise hard every day, then it's good to take one day off per week to rest your muscles and heal them up so you can start fresh in a new week.

Jogging is one of my favorites. I do it every morning, its less stressful for the joints than sprinting, it still a useful bone-loading exercise and a very effective way to achieve cardio-vascular fitness and burn calories.

I have a lot of respect for people who jog every morning. I've never been able to get up the motivation to do that. I can barely make it from my bed to the coffee maker! Good job, Silvertoes.
