  • Friend not losing any weight after child birth

I have a friend who gave birth a few months ago. She is doing fine except that she is not losing any of the weight. She walks every day, but the weight is just not coming off her. Any advice? Does it just take a long time to come off after a baby or what? I can tell she is getting a bit depressed about it.

I don't know what to say but that really sucks. What is she eating? Is she eating healthy? Tell her chin up, don't give up and keep at it. It will go, hopefully just takes time.

How far is she walking? She is probably still eating for two or just not eating super healthy and not walking enough or getting enough regular exercise. Weight loss is really a matter of simple math. Calories burned must = more the calories consumed and you WILL lose weight no matter what.

maybe she needs to pick up the pace a little. If she's only going for a slow stroll it might not be getting her heart rate up high enough to burn the calories, even if she's going a pretty good distance. She doesn't need to sweat by the end of it, but she should definitely feel good and warm. otherwise she might not be pushing herself quite enough. Paying attention to eating right at the same time is also key.

Your friend's body might still be figuring itself out after giving birth. That puts a woman's body through a lot of changes and it can take a little while to get its cycles and systems back in order again. As long as your friend is healthy and keeps up proper eating and the good walks, the weight should start to come off. That being said, it might be something that she'll want to bring up during her next medical check-up so that she's sure there's nothing standing in her way.

Update- she is still not losing much if any and she eats super healthy. Definitely NOT eating for two. In fact for me she is bigger then she was when she was pregnant. What is going on I do not know.

            How far is she walking?
She says she's walking like 10km per day.

maybe she needs to pick up the pace a little.
Well I don't think she is strolling if she's doing 10k because then it would take her all day but it's possible...

it might be something that she'll want to bring up during her next medical check-up
This is good advice, there has got to be something else going on here.

I hope your friend is alright, tankini. There is nothing more frustrating than putting your heart and soul into your efforts to lose weight and not seeing any results. Hopefully her doctor will be able to give her some additional advice and the pounds will start to come off again.

The secret to success in weight loss after pregnancy is to turn it your lifestyle. Do not do it for the wrong reasons. Many females have been diagnosed sick with diabetes after delivery due to unhealthy diet. There are also some females who contracted heart diseases and hypertension after child birth. Ensure you give your effort in weight loss after pregnancy to fight obesity and obesity-related diseases. Weight loss after pregnancy will never be successful if you don’t eat properly and healthily. If you want to be successful in weight loss after pregnancy, you have to cut down on the junk calories and boost healthy calories. Healthy calories can be seen in fruits and vegetables. Invest in cooking and prepare yourself home cooked meals instead of fast food.

This may be true, but remember that the studies aren't just saying that a cup of green tea will make a difference. You really have to chug the stuff. The studies are indicating that you need a minimum of 5 cups every day to make any difference (Green Tea Weight Loss). I read another study that said that you'd have to drink 14 cups!

                      That is normal

Just tell her that is normal, but if she will continue exercise her weight will decrease. She needs patience and selfdiscipline

Thanks everyone for the support. She is finally starting to make some headway now after A LOT of hard work. She hasn't lost a tone, but I can definitely see difference now. Maybe now that the ball is finally rolling it will start to fall off at a faster pace.

That's great news! I bet the progress - no matter how big or small - is making all the difference in the world to her.

So true on the green tea. It can be a nice supplementation to weight loss, but it's not a miracle drink. Healthy eating and consistent exercise habits are the foundation to any weight loss plan.

In my experience, walking does help you lose weight after pregnancy. I lost 46 pounds in 7 months walking and changing up my diet. I attribute most of that weight loss to my diet though, not to the walking.

I became a vegetarian and slowly transitioned to a vegan, and the weight just seemed to effortlessly melt away. I ate foods closest to its natural, organic state - fruits, vegetables, beans, lentils. I stayed away from packaged products like chips, cookies, and crackers.

I walked an hour for 5-6 days a week. Speed walking - pushing my son in the jogging stroller and walking my dog at the same time.

I would definitely encourage your friend that it can be done. It's about lifestyle changes that will give her the greatest chance for success. Tell her to stick with it, and keep positive.
