How do I make sure that I don't gain too much weight when I'm pregnant? What sort of diet should I follow? I don't want to hurt my baby, but I also don't want to be giving into my cravings and become a 1,000 pounds. I don't want to fall into that "eating for two" mindset that will make me feel like I have an excuse to eat more than I should.

Weight gain is, of course, a natural part of pregnancy. However, Definitely talk to your doctor about your diet and be sure to bring up your weight gain concerns. They should be able to help you to know how many calories you require to maintain good health for you and your growing baby.

I agree with tammybear. Talk to your doctor. You don't want to mess around with your eating habits or make dramatic lifestyle changes when you're pregnant. You need to do what is the most healthy for you and your baby. Keep in mind that (safely) exercising and staying active while you're pregnant will also help to keep your weight down, may lead to an easier birth and could help you bounce back faster once the baby is born.

Follow the diet and exercise regimen that your doctor recommends. If you find that you're still hungry, eat low calorie snacks. Never think of dieting while you're pregnant. Instead, think of every change that you make as a healthy lifestyle change that you are adopting for you and your unborn baby. Ultimately, the health of your baby is more important than how you look.
