I know this might be a stupid question, but I'm wondering what a weight loss diary actually is. Is it an actual physical diary like a "dear diary" kind of diary or is it a special book you get or is it only online. I kind of want to get the best thing and I want to do it right. What do you guys use?

It can be both a physical diary that you actually keep in like a notebook or something like that or it can be a digital record. It doesn't really matter. Essentially, it's all about taking note of what you eat, how you feel, etc. so you can keep track of your weight loss progress to help you reach your goals and maintain them. I would recommend using whatever diary method works for you. The idea is to keep up with it.

I use a an online nutrition and calorie tracker to keep track of what I eat and my calories. I use a site called ShareFit, but I've heard good things about Spark People too. Both are free to use and are great tools. Once you get into the habit of using them, it's easy to do.

I also use an online calorie counter for my "weight loss diary" and I find it's been great. I use a phone app though, because I do everything on my phone. This makes it even easier for me. Since I have it with me all the time, I can easily enter in what I eat after I've eaten it. It's easy to remember to do it once it becomes habit, just like Tiff said. In fact, I've reached the point now where I can almost know how many calories I've ingested since I've been keeping track so much. It really does help with weight loss.

Okay so it can actually be anything from a physical paper traditional journal to an online calorie counter then? That's good to know. i think i like the idea of a calorie counter. Tracking online does sound like it would be easier than keeping an actual journal I write in every day. I can't see me keeping up with that. That would be one of those things that I would do for a while and then I would just lost interest or start making excuses not to do it.
For those of you who use a mobile weight loss diary app, could you recommend any good apps (and preferably one that's free) for Android? Thanks.
