  • Write to yourself

Don’t just write in your diet diary, but write something to yourself and then read it later. Make a point of actually going over what you’ve written. It will motivate you to keep it up and help you to understand yourself.

I find that if I write to someone that I'd like to impress, I get more results than writing to myself. That way, in my head, I can pretend that I'm going to give it to that person, so I try as hard as I can.

You could actually decide to give it to someone at the end and that will help to motivate you to stick to it because you know that someone will see!

A friend of mine said something nifty when I was talking to her about the "write to yourself" idea. She said that you should create a social media profile instead of just a regular blog, but for a unique reason. She said to do this because that way you can use your cell phone to update your posts no matter where you are. That way, you don't have to face a blank page and write a novel. You can just keep things up to date. That was clever to me, so I thought I'd share it.

I did something similar to this when I was on a motivation plan instead of a diet plan. It actually involved writing letters and mailing them to myself every few days. It was a continual cycle of writing and receiving. When they were received, they had to be read. It was a surprising process.

my trick is to make it point form. Short and sweet. As though I was tweeting or something. That way, it doesn't take too long and it doesn't feel like a hassle. The less hassle, the better the chances that I'll actually do it.
