Is an operation long and will it always be successful?

I know that the most common weight loss surgeries are bariatric surgeries like gastric bypass, adjustable gastric band, sleeve gastrectomy, an so on. How long do these operations typically take and are they usually successful?

They aren't too long as operations but the recovery is long. You're changing the size and shape of a vital organ, plus it has to heal up. You start off on an all liquid diet for a while, then you gradually add soft foods, and so on. It's not easy. The surgeries themselves are typically successful as I understand it (I'm not a doctor). After that, its' up to you and a number of other factors to decide if it will help you lose weight and keep it off over time.
