Which surgery is less risky and cheaper? The lap band or the one where they insert a balloon to help you suppress appetite? I think one of these procedures could help me with my over-eating issue. Pills just don't seem to do it for me and I'm so tired of feeling hungry all the time!

That's definitely a question for your doctor. I think the answer will depend on your health and on money. I think the balloon is cheaper than lapband and I also think that it's less invasive. I could be wrong about that, but that's what I think. Also, I'm pretty sure that you need to be considered a candidate for either treatment. They don't just give those to people, even if they can afford it.

Honestly, I think they both carry some pretty big risks in the event that something goes wrong. I would think that that the balloon is less invasive, because I'm pretty sure you just swallow it. I don't think you actually have to have surgery to get it like the lap band. Certainly ask your doctor and do a little online research to learn the potential risks, complications and how you might need to prepare for the procedure as well as what to expect when it's done. Usually with these treatments you need to follow strict diets and things.

I agree. Both have risks. I think the balloon is cheaper. That said, surgery really is a last resort thing. If you are serous about it, talk to your doctor. Simply because you might want it doesn't mean that you'll necessarily be a candidate for it.

Wow...so it sounds like none of you are fans of either treatment All kidding aside, I do get what you're saying. I know they come with risk, I was just wondering if one had a better success rate over another because pill seriously don't work. I have made an appointment with my doc for the new year and plan to discuss my options with him. I just really want something to work.
