How long does it take to recover from weight loss surgery? Is it true you can only eat liquids for a while?

It does take quite a bit of time. You need to start off on a liquid diet for a while, then build up to semi solids, before you can work your way up to solids again.
Even once you've healed all the way, you need to be careful not to overdo it when you eat because the consequences can be dangerous.

Recovery from lap bands is usually a lot shorter than from surgeries like gastric bypass, but there is definitely some time that a lot of healing is required. It's also important to understand that there are a lot of post surgical risks, so you have to be very careful to follow all of the rules your surgeon and doctor give you.

You should have to watch a video on what recovery looks/feels like before you're allowed to have this surgery
