While there certainly are some diets that are better than others. You will always get out of a diet what you put into it. It's just that simple. So the next time you're thinking about starting a diet and you look at what's involved, really decide whether or not it's something you realistically want to do because if you're not all that interested you're not going to get the results that you want - plain and simple.

I think you're right Mike. I think that's why so many people have an easier time losing weight on the extreme and short-term detox-style weight loss programs because they don't last very long. It's easier to go all out for a few days than to commit to a long-term lifestyle. I wish that finding a diet that worked for me wasn't so hard :( I always get bored with them eventually. Making a lifestyle change can be really depressing when you know that it's what you need but it's not what you want.

You're right mike, it's just too bad that "plain and simple" didn't also apply to following the rules of a diet or lifestyle change. I kinda agree with Chefmel that the major issue is that you have to put so much into the diet for so long that it always turns out to be this serious chore or a huge mountain that you're climbing that you feel like you're never going to reach the top of. I'm not saying you're wrong, cause I couldn't agree with you more...I just wish it was as easy as to put the truth in practice as much as it is realize it.

It is true that it is hard. That said, I think a lot of the time we tend to make things more difficult than they really are because of how we choose to think about them. We tend to make things harder than they have to be. When it comes to diet as with anything it's always about mind over matter. Yes, that is easier said than done, but if we accepted the reality of our situation and worked toward a solution instead of obsessing over what we don't like, we'd have an easier time reaching out goals.
