I know that for the most part detox diets are total garbage, but I was wondering if there are any that actually work or can be good for you. They can't all be bad, right?

I think most work when it comes to helping you lose weight quickly, but none provide you with real long term results and they aren't very healthy for your body. So, if you need to lose weight fast for an event, they're not bad, if you're looking for a real weight loss solution, you need to find an actual diet not a detox.

Most detox diets are bad not just because the weight loss doesn't last, but they typically require you to be unhealthy while you're following them. That said, if you are really interested in this type of diet for the short-term, you may want to look into the Body Reset Diet. It does require you to drink smoothies for the 15 days that you follow it but it does meet essential nutrient, protein, carbs and fat requirements, so while it may be low-cal, you should still be healthy. This diet also requires you to do some exercise. In other words, you should lose weight following it...but whether or not you'll keep that weight off over the long term is something else altogether.

I think I agree with you brightstar. I just tried the Body Reset Diet and I did lose weight but I hated every minuted of it after about the second day I was on it. These diets require you to change your lifestyle to much and they really start you questioning why you're going to such lengths to lose the weight...especially when deep down you know when you quit it it's going to come back.Originally posted by brightstar View PostI think that all detox diets can work, but I don't think any of them are good for you.
So, yeah, while I do think that they will result in some pretty decent short-term weight loss, they're not a solution. I think I'm off detoxes now.
