  • Points, Calories or Carbs?

What's the best type of diet to follow? One that counts calories, carbohydrates or has its own points system? I'm starting fresh and want to begin in the right category. I plan to use what I've learned already but I also want a new beginning to erase all the blunders I've been through until now.

I don't like points systems. I pay attnetion to calories and try to focus on making sure I don't overdo it with carbs. At first it's best to count everything, to get a good idea of where you stand. But as you come to understand your food, you can just ballpark it, checking in now and again with some precision.

I've always had the best luck counting calories. I stay on track and progress when I do it, but I lose ground when I stop. To me, that means it works and I should keep it up.

Anything but points. Points systems are proprietary and not sustainable for years to come. Understand your food and track something within it like calories or carbs, but don't rely on a company's point system or you're locked into it forever.

points don't work long term. Aim for calories mostly, while trying to balance those with reduced carbs on the whole.
