Hey all, I want to know about the Cheater's Diet. Has anyone tired it? I like the idea of eating good all week and then blowing your diet on the weekend. Can this really lead to weight loss or is the science behind this diet flawed?

I heard about this diet, too and I think it makes a lot of sense. I think it would be a lot easier to diet throughout the week but then have a weekend to look forward to where you can eat what you want. I imagine it would make it easier to stick to dieting throughout the week because it's like getting rewarded at the end of every week. The only thing I have a hard time believing about this diet is that it won't mess up your metabolism. I mean, would you actually lose weight if you go from restricting your calories to not?

All I can say about this diet is my husband did it and failed. He was good for about two weeks, but he just found the 5 days that he had to restrict his foods too extreme. The "cheating" on the weekend just wasn't enough to get him to stick to being "good" for the remainder of the week. This is one of those easier said than done diets. In theory it seems good, but once you do it, it's a lot harder than you realize.

I have tried this diet, and it's entirely possible to lose weight on it, as long as you can adhere to its rules. I lasted about a month on this until I finally gave up. And like others have already said, I just found the 5 days where you have to really limit what you eat too tough. The first couple of weeks it was fine because I really found the "cheating" on the weekend to be great, but I found it really hard to go back to the dieting part after Sunday. Maybe that's just me, but if you're not someone who has a lot of willpower, this diet may actually work against you more than it works in your favor.
