  • What about the Sanoma diet

Has anyone ever tried this diet? The name of it sounds familiar to me but I'm not sure if that's because I've actually heard of it before or if I thinking about the wine region in California LOL!

I think this one's been out for a while and I tried it a few years back. It wasn't for me. This diet is split up into three stages that are called "waves". The first wave is REALLY restrictive and requires you to cut out lots of foods. Not just the typical processed and high-fat foods, but also all sugars including natural sugar, which means even fruit is off limits. This lasts for only 10 days, but it's a hard ten days. I didn't make it past 5. I find diets that want you to make such extreme changes with "detox" phases are not practical.

There are better diets out there. I recommend something that focuses on controlling calories and portion sizes, but isn't insane about restricting what you eat. No practical diet should have an insane detox phase. Shocking your body is never a good idea.

I think if you want to see if the diet is for you, you should buy the book and give it a read to see what is involved. You can read a book without following a diet after all. Plus, I think this is a pretty old diet so it shouldn't be hard to find the book for cheap. Then, if you find it's something you really want to try, talk to your doctor to see what he or she thinks :)

Thanks everyone. I think I might take your advice Bonniekins and just buy the book and read it to see what I think. I've seen it online for pretty cheap. I just hope by the name of the diet it includes wine LOL
