  • Don't get too restrictive

It’s easy to be tempted to start a really restrictive diet that will be hard but that says it will let you lose a huge amount of weight in a short time. Those don’t work for the vast majority of people, they mess up your metabolism, and they don’t keep the weight off once it’s gone. It’s better to go slow and steady, as much as that sucks.

That's a good point. THat's been my problem thorugh a lot of diets I've done in the past.

I think that I’ve actually fallen for that sort of strategy with every diet I’ve ever been on, even the ones that are supposed to be healthy. I’m just so driven to get results at the beginning that I tend to restrict myself even more than the diet…then that makes me get tired of it even faster than I likely would otherwise and I quit after a short time. It’s a bad cycle.

YOu can start off restrictive until you learn what you're doing and ease off over time when yhou know how to make the right decisions

I work best when I'm restrictive for 3 days, then give myself a break for 1 and then start again.

I didn't used to believe this but after trying an ultra restrictive diet for over a week, I'm dumping it. This is so not realistic.

That's a very good point. I used to make this mistake all of the time. I always failed every time I tired to push myself too hard.

Be kind to yourself, but also remember that being kind to yourself includes getting yourself to your ideal weight
That's perfectly put! That's exactly it. Don't be so restrictive that you work against yourself, but also don't be so lazy that you don't actually reach your goals. It's about finding the right balance for you.
