  • eat chocolate, lose weight

Is there anything to the eat chocolate, lose weight diet? It sounds awesome but too good to be true.

As long as you eat dark chocolate (really dark, like 70 percent cocoa or more) and you just eat one little square (or two on a very special day) then there really shouldn't be any problem with having chocolate every day while you're dieting.

In fact, I think that this is actually a very good idea because you can save it for when you really need a treat in the day and then you always know that you will have the opportunity to have something special at some point in the day. You can look forward to it and then reward yourself for doing so well!

I would never completely give up chocolate for any diet. I know how much I love it and I know how happy it makes me. Even if I have to make one really good quality chocolate bar last for an entire month, I'll still have some.

I try to save a couple of squares to use as motivation to get things done that I don't like doing.

Is this really real? Eating chocolate while dieting sounds like a fad thing.

As long as you eat chocolate that is over 70 percent cocoa, is it all the same? I mean, I just saw a bar that was 90 percent. Does that mean that it's better for a diet than the 70 percent one?

Does this sort of thing work with white chocolate? I can never find a white chocolate bar that says how much cocoa is in it. Is that because it's too low to really matter?

That's really my favorite kind of chocolate so I'd love to be able to work a bit of it into my diet as a treat every now and then.

I don't think that white chocolate is actually chocolate. It's just a name. It doesn't contain cocoa so it wouldn't count on this diet.

You're right Bigbobby, white chocolate isn't actually the same as regular chocolate and it doesn't contain cocoa. It really wouldn't fit in with that kind of diet, at all, since the trick is actually to make sure that you're eating primarily cocoa, and just a little bit of it anyway.

I can actually see this being a very good part of a diet. Even if it's only a tiny taste of dark chocolate, like one square every day, then at least I wouldnt' feel like I was being cut off from everything that I love to eat. It would mean that I can enjoy something good, which will make me feel far less limited by my diet.

That's true. In fact, white chocolate is a lot harder on a diet than pretty much any other kind of chocolate. This doesn't have any cocoa in it and it is made up essentially of fats. Its a completely different substance and you can't use it in place of anything that requires the health benefits of dark chocolate.

I find that white chocolate is something very strange. I often suffer from headaches when I eat it. That reaction seems to run in my family. I'm not sure what is in it that would cause that kind of problem but after looking into it online it doesn't look like that is a very strange reaction to it.

If eating dark chocolate really is good for a diet then I'm very glad because it helps me to be able to justify eating a few Easter eggs today haha. I'll just tell everyone that it's alright because it's diet food

I hope everyone has a happy and healthy Easter! Don't forget to treat yourself but don't overdo it, either or you'll just end up feeling guilty and having to work extra hard to get rid of all of the damage you did over the weekend
