The Ketogenic diet looks like it works for some people, but just how safe is it? Also, are you losing actual fat or is it just water weight that you shed? I've heard a lot of good thinks about this diet, but there is so much "fad" hype around it that I can' t help thinking that maybe it's a little too-good-to-be true. Am I wrong/?

Will I lose weight on Keto?

Yup, you'll lose both fat and water weight. In fact, you might find that you'll lose a lot of weight at the start. That said, the weight can easily come back as soon as you get off keto or you have a slip up and eat carbs. The diet is sort of a short-term weight loss solution in my opinion. It's really not practical or healthy for long-term weight loss.

You will lose weight on Keto but you'll also lose weight if you starve yourself. Neither one is good for you. There are lost of weight loss diets that will lead to weight loss. The better question isn't "Will I lose weight on this diet?" but "Will I lose weight in a healthy and practical way that is beneficial to my lifestyle?" In terms of this second question in regard to Keto, the answer is no.
