I've heard a lot of talk about the Mediterranean diet. What is it about this particular diet that makes it so highly recommended and is it truly easy to follow?

Why is the Mediterranean diet so effective?

I wouldn't say that it is "easy to follow" because I don't honestly think any diet, no matter how smart, healthy, safe and good it is for you, is easy to follow. The reason is that any time you are following a new diet, this means a change in your lifestyle and change is never easy, because it involves having to think and process new things, breaking from old habits (some habits we aren't even aware existed) and building new ones.
That being said, the reason why many people tend to find success with the Mediterranean Diet is that It's a plant-based diet that encourages you to eat more vegetables, whole grains and nuts and less dairy and meat. Vegetables make up a large portion of the foods that you'll eat on this diet and they are low in calories. This means that you can eat more of them without packing on more weight In other words, it allows you to eat a higher volume of food for fewer calories compared to other diets that aren't plant-based. In my opinion, this diet is a great way to eat healthy and get active without destroying your relationship with food.
