I see that Niacin is touted a lot for weight loss. If I'm not mistaken I think that it's one of the B vitamins, right? Why is it in a lot of pills and what's it's claim to fame?

I think it plays an important role in digestion and I think it's supposed to help boost energy. I have no idea how true that is, but since it's a vitamin, even if it doesn't do much for weight loss, I imagine it's important to your overall health. And being healthy definitely helps with weight loss.

Yeah, pretty much it's believed to help weight loss because it helps your body to turn food into energy. That said, some research has also found it to stimulate appetite, which means that it encourages you to eat more...which might not be so beneficial for those wanting to lose weight. That said, Niacin is very important for healthy digestion and could benefit metabolism and may also be good for reducing cholesterol and improving circulation.
In essence, like every other vitamin and mineral out there, I think you should obtain a sufficient amount of Niacin, but you shouldn't overdo it. It's always about balance.
