How safe is caffeine? If I'm someone who doesn't typically have much caffeine in my diet (like I have a cup of tea on occasion) should I just play it safe and avoid diet pills with caffeine? Beyond it potentially making me jittery because I'm not used to it, could it also make me addicted?

Honestly, caffeine is one of those substances, that I feel if you are used to not having much of it in your diet, it's not worth it to add more. It's not like it's great for your health or anything. At the same time, if you want to add a little more because you think it might provide you with more energy, for instance, that you think may benefit your workouts, etc. then maybe it is worth considering. That said, I wouldn't really worry about becoming addicted. I would just watch how much you ingest because you could be at greater risk of jitters if you're not used to it, especially in pill form as caffeine in coffee doesn't typically pack as much of an instant punch because it is less concentrated than caffeine in pills.

I feel that if you don't need to add more caffeine to your diet, don't. Your body doesn't need it. That said, I wouldn't really worry about addiction if you do take more. Even, if for some reason your body started to crave it more, it's not difficult to just cut back on caffeine again or eliminate it from your diet altogether. Typically headache, crankiness and fatigue are the short-term effects of withdrawal...but not everyone experiences that.

Caffeine is pretty safe for most people (as long as you don't overdo it). But, yeah, if you're happy with the amount of caffeine you currently ingest or you don't drink much of it all, I don't see the point in actually adding more to your diet unnecessarily, especially through a diet supplement, which as Kyra pointed out not the same as the caffeine in other beverages because dehydrated caffeine hits your body faster and in a more potent way.

Okay, so essentially you all agree that I should just not take a diet pill with caffeine. Noted. I think I'll just stick to the caffeine I naturally ingest. I don't really struggle with energy issues, I just though that extra caffeine would maybe lead to more metabolism burning.
