  • What's changed now that Oprah took over?

I heard that Oprah is now a part of weight watchers. Either she owns the company or she owns part of it or something. I've heard that changes are being made to the program, but I'm not entirely sure what they are. Has anyone else heard about this? Do you think Oprah being a part of weight watchers is good or bad?

Personally, I don't think it's going to do the program any big favors. Yeah, it'll likely attract more people with Oprah behind it, but essentially the new approach that weight watchers is implementing to its users is to encourage them to change their mindset about weight loss and to not only focus on controlling what they eat and weighing themselves. It will teach them to look at the emotional side as well.

In all fairness, the changes don't sound all that bad. What I find concerning is that Oprah is now a part of it, and as cool as that woman is, she's not exactly the best role model for those seeking to lose weight, considering her weight fluctuates like crazy all the time, which personally makes me feel like she either hasn't found a healthy weight management plan that works for her or she can't stick to it.

From what I've read, the new changes made the program seem pretty decent. It still functions as it usually does, with the weekly weigh-ins and everything.

Also, I think that Oprah will only improve on the success of the program. Yeah, she's battled with her weight for a long time, but I think a lot of people can relate to that. I think more of us have issues managing our weight than not.

That's it? It doesn't seem like it's changed that much. I was kind of expecting some massive changes. I've decided that I don't actually think Oprah being a part of weight watchers is bad. People really pay attention to her. Hopefully the people she draws in will find that the diet works for them. :)

Has anything actually changed? I thought she just joined weight watchers and started losing weight, tweeted about it and suddenly weight watchers got popular again. I didn't know she was involved with the program beyond that.
