  • How many calories is 1 WW point?

How many calories are there in one point on weight watchers? Does it convert like that or are other issues taken into consideration?

That's a great question. I asked it, myself, when I was first on weight watchers. Although I never actually remembered to ask my rep what it is, what I figured through a bit of math based on the 26 points I was allowed every day and the number of calories assigned to the foods i ate was that, overall, one point is about 50 calories.

That said, it's not exactly fifty. There is some adjustment for various factors within the specific food. I imagine that has to do with sugars, bad fats, and other things such as that.

So overall, you can use 50 as a rule of thumb, but this doesn't mean that if you're trying to create your own points system that fifty calories can be the equivalent to one point every single time because there are other factors at play. I hope that helped instead of just being confusing haha. :D

1000kw that's a really good question, and christysmiles, that's a really great answer. It's funny. That's actually somethign that I have been curious about for a while and I never really thought about it consciously enough to ask the question. I'm glad someone did - and that someone answered. I didn't realize that there was any complexity to the weight watchers points system.

I don't suppose that they can simply make their points too obvious. If they didn't make it hidden and proprietary then it would be too easy to copy and then noone would subscribe to their service. It's interesting when you learn what the ballpark numbers are. It's a pretty good program as far as I can tell.

That's a good point. I'd wondered why they wouldn't share that!

That's a really well thought out straategy for htem. It's good that htey keep it proprietary so that nobody can copy them. I guess it's like their version of the KFC recipe.

LOL I guess they really do need to hide it because the fact that it is proprietary is all they ahve going for them to keep people paying them to stay losing weight!
