  • How strict is South Beach?

I've read a little bit about the South Beach diet because I've seen some good reviews and I really failed with the Atkins Diet.

What I can't tell is if South Beach diet is highly restrictive or not, since it has its three phases when you can and can't eat certain things.

Does anyone have an opinion on that? thanks.

Pretty strict. It's not completely regimented, but it has its rules that say what you can and can't eat.

I've heard it was relatively strict, too. Anyone I know who has tried it quit before reaching their goal.

I don't think it's too much stricter than most other structured diets. The amount of changes you need to make is really based on what your lifestyle currently looks like. It's got a lot of ideas, recipes, and support. The website is really thorough to help you along.

I think it's considered mid-range in terms of being strict, when compared to the other diet plans out there

It's not too bad. Every diet has it's rules and restrictions

It limits consumption of high GI carbohydrates but allows you to eat pork, fish, beef, eggs, cheese and dietary Low GI carbohydrates such as multi grain bread, unpolished rice, brown rice, lentils and soy milk.

It's strict, but in a reasonable and healthy way.
