  • Reasons people don't like this diet

What are the top reasons why people don't like South Beach? I mean, I know anyone can choose not to like something, but is there the same answer frequently given? Like cost or hard to commit to, or is it something else? Any opinions?

One of the reasons that people don't like it is that it labels foods as "good" or "bad". Over time, this can distort your relationship with foods, for some people it might even encourage them to develop poor eating habits that are unhealthy and disordered.

I think one of the issues is that it's good for short term weight loss but it's not really great for long term goals.

Really? They identify foods as "good" and "bad". Yikes! I mean, I know it's important to categorize foods based on their nutrient value, but to call something bad...it's just gonna make someone feel guilty and bad about themselves if they mess up and eat a bunch of bad food...

I think any diet that requires you to buy products that the company makes is a bad diet. It's just a money grab and is teaching people to take the lazy way out.

I agree. I don't think any diet program that requires you to buy their products is a good one, at least not for long term practical weight loss. If you have to buy certain pre-made foods to control your calories and lose weight, you're not really learning how to make the necessary changes in your diet to achieve this on your own without these products.

That's a really good point. I mean how can any diet that is designed to have you buy their stuff be anything more than a company trying to make money off your weight loss? I get that anyone who sells anything is ultimately attempting to make money, but there is a happy medium. Also, I agree that if you have to depend on the food products to lose weight, chances are you're not learning how to make quality meals that can help achieve the same results.
