  • South Beach No Pasta Lasagna for Phase 1

I am a huge South Beach fan. I have tried hundreds of recipes and hope to share a few of them with you. Here's one of my favorite Phase 1 Recipes:

    Crock-Pot Lasagna

1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
    1 onion, chopped
1 1/2 cups sugar free spaghetti sauce
    1 1/2 cups fat-free cottage cheese
    1 egg, beaten
1 cup grated mozzarella cheese divided in half
    1/2 tsp Italian seasoning

Brown ground beef with onion in a nonstick skillet.

Add spaghetti sauce and mix with meat and onion.

Pour half of meat mixture into slow cooker sprayed with nonfat cooking spray.

In a small bowl, mix together the cottage cheese, egg, and the Italian seasoning. Beat well with a fork.

Spread half of the cheese mixture over the meat mixture.

Sprinkle 3/4 cup of mozzarella over cheese mixture.

    Repeat layers.

    Cover. Cook on low 4 - 4 1/2 Hours.

If you have a really big crock-pot or big family or both, you may want to double this recipe.

thanks mcbean, I tried this recipe the other night. It was really tasty. I substitutes the ground beef with lean ground turkey to make it as healthy as possible. The dish turned more into stew than lasagna in my crockpot, but it was still delicious.

That recipe sounds yummy! Ill go try it out later..hahaha

Anyway, Im a really huge fan of south beach diet since forever! I have been more conscious of what type of carbohydrate I eat and on how much fat I consume. Their principle is quite simple but still, others can't appreciate the difference of good fat/carbo to bad fat/carbo but I do and Ive been following that rule since then. Im glad I found another recipe. If anyone else has recipes such as this, let us know so we can also try it at home! thanks!

Wow south beach diet! I am an avid fan of this meal plan because it has a variety of foods to choose from which for me is very important for dieters to sustain this regimen. I easily get bored eating the same stuffs all over again and it causes me to back slide and start from scratch all over again. Its depressing I know but since the south beach diet has started, I gained back my pace once more and started dieting again. It never fails to surprise me because I can just try on different recipe each day. People seem to know it since forever!

Although phase 1 has been really hard because I used to rely on carbs a lot for my daily necessity for energy foods, I'm thankful I survived it. Phase 2 of the diet plan is less depressing because I do get to eat "happy foods" such as sweet potatoes and some bread but I notice that my weight loss has slowed down along with it which is okay because it means that I'm gradually losing weight still. I am now in phase 3 which is the sustainability phase, I'm kinda happy with my weight now. Of course, I do not only rely on the south beach diet, I also use diet pills such as phentramin d and I exercise a lot!

Thank you for this new recipe, this is another meal to look forward to. Keep posting!
