  • Exercise in a Weight Loss Program

Do you all think that exercise is an essential component of any weight loss program?

Would you fancy a weight loss program more if it contains a workout regime or will it be a complete turn off?

Personally, I feel that any weight loss program relying on purely dieting without any element of muscle building or exercise element is not going to be very sustainable.

    What are your thoughts?

Yeah, Exercise is so much necessary for weight loss or for healthy life.
If you do exercise daily with diet control plan, your weight could never be over..

If your weight loss program doesn't include an exercise component - and a decent one, at that - then you're only holding yourself back your successes and are just asking to gain back any weight that you manage to lose. You'll have to eat way less food to get the weight off if you don't exercise, and so you'll be stuck with an uncomfortable, ineffective starvation diet instead of a healthy one.

If you find that your weight loss program focuses mostly on the food you eat, there's nothing stopping you from adding your own activity component that is tailored exactly to your needs!

Yeah exercises are the important and effective part of weight loss program. For healthy weight loss you have to do exercises along with diet.

For weight loss exercise is the most important tool and cardio exercises are best for weight lose. In cardio running, walking, jogging, cycling, swimming and yoga all are best for weight loss. I think without exercise no one can loss his weight easily.

I looked up how many calories were in a pound and saw I wasn't even getting close with the treadmill calories burned reading. depressed me a bit. but I guess I am improving other things in my health by exercising

Don't forget that the number of calories in a pound isn't an exact science in terms of what you need to do to burn it off. Every person has their own burning rate. The treadmill is likely making more of a difference than you think, as long as you are getting your heart rate up for a good half hour. It's especially true if you're building up your calf, thigh, and butt muscles (and your abs for that matter) since muscle burns more calories (which wouldn't be recorded on your treadmill)!

Exercise should consist mostly of cardio but some strength training. You'll lose weight faster, you'll age better, and you'll live longer.

if you're not willing to exercise, don't expect to lose weight.

That's absolutely true. If you want to lose weight, then it's not just a matter of changing what you eat. You need to turn your activity level in a positive direction, too. That's really where a lot of the calories get burned away and where you'll start to see the real results.

I also think it's important because even if you did manage to lose weight without exercising, it won't stay off. It'll be a temporary thing and will gain back on the moment you eat something that is more of a treat.
