  • A Plethora Of Weight Loss Programs

I am motivated. I am mentally prepared to give up Starbucks extra shot mocha lattes. I am now officially ready to choose a weight loss program. The problem is that there are just way too many weight loss programs to pick from! Do you want to look like you’re from South Beach or Brazil? The Mediterranean or the Far East? What’s your body type? Are you in need of a cleansing program? Do you eat too many carbohydrates, or is your problem fats? Do you need to lose a little, or do you need to lose a lot? Are you looking for a cleanse to start the program, or do you just want to slowly modify the diet? There are so many exceptional weight loss programs on the market today thanks to many years of research and trial and error on the part of physicians and trainers. You can find many of these weight loss programs on the net, or (better yet) walk over to your local Barnes and Nobles to be inundated with aisles of books describing them.

As this is not my first go round at the old diet rodeo I do have some idea of weight loss programs that work for me. There is no one-size-fits-all for weight loss. Your body type, your metabolism, and your lifestyle all play a part in which program to choose. The weight loss programs that I usually select are those that are high in protein and low in carbohydrates. Give me a week of whole, unprocessed foods and I will have lost at least four pounds. My body likes meats and vegetables, and won’t get too angry if I throw in a bit of cheese here and there. I have a friend who is on a gluten free diet and has lost an amazing amount of weight eating rice noodles and potato flower brownies. If I tried that I would balloon like a Macy’s day float. My advice to anyone looking for weight loss programs is to do research and don’t assume that because your best friend lost weight on the ice cream diet that you will, too. Sometimes you will have a lot of trial and error just have to figure out what works.

This time out I will be working my “whole foods” weight loss program and supplement my meal plan with probiotics, Vitamin D, folic acid, and multi-vitamins. I will be sure to keep you posted of how much I lose this week.

    Thanks for the encouragement.

So far this week i have managed to stick to my diet. It's easy this time of year to eat lots of fruits and vegetables because they are so fresh and delicious. i have been making meals that include whole grains. I tried wheat berries the other night in a salad. Really good and just a little was very filling.

I meant to ask you - why folic acid? Does it have some benefit when you are trying to lose weight?

I take a multivitamin that includes folic acid (folate). From the reading I've done, folic acid can have a number of benefits for your health, includig fighting cancer. I don't think it can help you lose weight - it's just a good thing to add to your diet.

Thanks for the comments guinea piggy. I have followed you in the blog for some time and you inspired me to do my own diet too. Wish me luck.

Wow. One tough regimen you have there. I just recently gave up carbs on weekdays and Sunday is my cheat day (all the carbs in the world for Sunday lunch). I can't trick myself into sticking to a rigid diet regimen plus I cant give up my love for cheese and ice cream. You're truly an inspiration to everyone here.
