  • Will weight loss improve GERD?

I know weight loss helps to improve certain health issues. Does this also include GERD?

I'm sure it would. I think being overweight doesn't help any health problem. That said, in the case of GERD, I imagine that it's your diet more than anything that likely helps with symptoms.

Yes it will. As far as I'm concerned, losing weight, if you're overweight, only helps to benefits your health on the whole. The less weight you carry around, the less stress your body is under.

Yes! Weight loss can have a hugely positive impact on GERD. In fact obesity is thought to be one of the major causes of the condition. Excessive weight increases abdominal pressure, which can makes stomach acid leakage or backflow more possible. You can also reduce heartburn by cutting out triger foods, such as coffee spicy foods, citrus foods, tomatoes, peppermint, alcohol, carbonated beverages, etc.

It will help! My dad has GERD and as soon as he started losing weight he felt a whole lot better and his symptoms improved. Excess weight really does a lot of bad things to the body. It puts all this extra stress on.
