  • How many pounds per week?

    If I join a good diet program, how many pounds should I expect to lose every week? Realistically.

    Try talking to your doctor. They will probably say 1-2 pounds per week but you need to find out what is right for you.

      I believe 1 pound a week is the standard/aimed for healthy choice and very achievable. 2 Pounds if you're super diligent. Losing more than 2 pounds a week is generally not healthy. 1 Pound a week adds up faster than it sounds, in two months you lose 8 pounds!

      If the requirements for the 1 pound/week loss seem too strenuous for you to follow every day then try for 1/2 pound/week. Every little bit counts, the important thing is that you keep trying!

        That's exactly what I thought. I have been losing 1-2 pounds pretty steadily for a while now and I feel quite proud of myself and I don't think that I'm pushing myself too hard. Usually I lose 1 pound, but every now and again I lose 2. It really does add up fast. Faster than it seems. When I first started dieting I plateaued right away and didn't get anywhere, but then suddenly when I started losing, it just kept coming off a little at a time and I think that's the healthiest.

            I think that between 2 and 3 pounds is good if you think that you will be losing for a while. Anywhere from 1 to 3 pounds is perfectly reasonable though. Anything above that is going too fast.

                    I think as long as it just happens that way and it's not that you are restricting yourself more, it's not weird for you to go through a couple of weeks or so where you might lose more or less. Don't expect to lose the same every week. It's realy an overall average that matters.
