  • The no diet diet

I came across this and was both amused and irritated by the name "No Diet Diet". Has anyone tried this? What type of advice does it offer...because based on the title it sounds like 1 - a diet and 2 - like a load of BS. Thoughts?

This book focuses on changing your relationship with food. It's more about being positive and pay attention when you're eating and to what you're eating instead of forcing you to follow a strict plan or keeping foods off limits. The trouble with this particular "no diet" approach is that many people who are looking to lose weight tend to rely on diets to tell them what and what not to eat. This isn't going to really do that for you.

Still it's a good read and you might find it useful.

This sounds like a good idea but at the same time, I doubt it will be effective for most people because it might be hard to follow since it doesn't really provide you with guidelines. I feel like people want to be told what to do but then fail because they can't keep up with what they're told to do lol. The no diet diet sounds like it's preaching common sense...in my experience, many humans who need to lose weight are typically allergic to common sense LOL!

Oh ok. I guess that makes sense. To be honest, I don't quite see the point of this book, but at least I know what it's about now. Thanks!

The point of it is to get you to change your relationship with food and to pay attention to what you're eating and how much of it you're eating. Personally, I think it makes a lot of sense. It's far more likely to teach healthy and better long-term eating habits than following one of those highly restrictive diets that tell you to eliminate a bunch of stuff, dramatically reduce your calories and so on and so forth. Those kind of diets don't last long for most of us because they make us feel miserable, it's depressing not eating foods you like, and it can be a nuisance to make some of the stuff, not to mention you can feel hungry all time. Plus, most of us are not that committed. Eventually, once we find a way to cut corners or if we have the opportunity to give up we do.
