  • Wearing magnets

Okay. I know we just talked about Brazilian Body Wraps and how weird (and ineffective) those are for weight loss, but what about magnets that you can wear? I've seen ones for your toes, wrists, ears, etc. Do these magnets honestly do anything or is this just a silly gimmick, too? Also, even if they don't do anything, why have they ever been considered useful for health in the first place?

Oh geeze. No, magnets will not help you lose weight. If they do, it's because you think that it works.

How in the world could a magnet help you lose weight??? Don't they sell them for conditions like helping with arthritis or something? I have a hard enough time believing that wearing one is good for your health, nevermind it somehow magically helping you lose weight...

It's supposed to work something like accupuncture. It's based on the same pressure points kind of idea. How by applying pressure to certain parts of the body, nerves are stimulated which can lead to other health benefits. For weight loss, I think the magnets are worn on the upper part of the ear. The thought is that they may help you feel less hungry by applying pressure to the hunger point.

Really? How on earth can accupressure (magnets or other forms) help you feel less hungry? Does it somehow effect your brain or hormones or something? This sounds like a load of bull to me. Maybe those who benefit from it want to believe in it and that's why they think it works? It's not that I have anything against accupuncture or accupressure, I think that they can be good for relaxation and reducing stress, which can do wonders for healing the mind and body....but actually aiding in causing notable fat loss?? No.

That's really interesting! So what you're saying is that this can actually work if someone believes that it can? I don't know if that's for me, but it's still interesting none the less. Thanks for sharing this. At least I know it's tied to accupressure and not just some weird random trend haha.
