I know that you eat a lot of meat on Atkins, but is there a vegetarian version of this diet that still follows the same principles but without all of the meat involved? I like the idea of this diet and it makes a lot of sense to me, but is there a way around the meat?

Ya it's the eco-atkins diet. Most of the food on this version of atkins consists primarily of healthy fats, beans, nuts, seeds, soy foods, fruits, vegetables, and no-starch gluten products. Most of the protein on this diet comes from gluten and soy beverages. The diet is pretty strict and you might find it even harder to follow than the original atkins diet. That said, it's apparently supposed to help with weight loss. However, usually I find that diets that are too strict aren't really great for long-term weight loss.
