  • Atkins without meat?

    I really like the atkins diet idea and I like the boosting proteins so that you can eat less carbs and stay full for longer. It’s a really good idea to me and I think that this strategy is smart because it beats the hunger. But how do you get all those proteins without eating a huge amount of meat and without eating a lot of fat along with it?

    I was hoping for ideas to do more of a lower fat or “vegetarian” atkins version. Does that exist? Any ideas are appreciated.

    You could try eco atkins. That's a pretty good one. But you could just substitute proteins like beans, quinoa, tofu, and others like eggs (if you eat eggs) instead of eating the meat in the diet.

        That's true. The focus is very heavy on protein so you need to know your alternatives inside and out. Protein is always a challenge when it comes to vegetarianism. Adding an atkins theme only makes it more complicated. That's why I thought the vegan style eco atkins might be a solution. I've never tried it though

          Do you mean all kinds of meat or just red meat? Is fish, eggs, or poultry allowed? What about other animal products like dairy?

            I'm pretty sure that eco atkins is for vegetarians not vegans so I suppose it depends on what type of vegetarianism you follow.

              I think that atkins is just a lot easier if you do eat some animal based proteins, especially meat, since protein is such an integral part to doing it right.
