  • Success Losing Weight with Atkins

I haven't tried Atkins myself, but have been witness to many of my friends try this diet. I have never known someone to be able to follow it for more than a month. They just seem to get fed up with the strict food restrictions.

Can Atkins be used as a long-term diet and has anyone had any experience with it for weight management?

Atkins intrigues me a lot. I also haven't tried it yet but the mass media has sensationalized this diet regimen that lured so many of my friends to try it. I can see good results though but I'm very loyal to south beach diet.

I searched the atkins diet over the web and found out that they have virtually everything that you need in the site. You can buy their books, purchase some weight loss tools and supplements, order their recipe, consult their Atkins doctors and so much more!

It was founded by Robert Atkins and made it into a series of books which became popular in an instant. The main key here is that you restrict carbohydrate intake so that the body will use your own fats as a source of energy instead of braking down the glucose from your carbo intake. Obviously, this will result to weight loss. it also has 4 main phases namely:

      Induction phase
      Ongoing weight loss phase
      Pre-maintenance phase
      Lifetime maintenance phase

However, Forbes magazine criticized Atkins diet due their recipes saying that the ingredients used are too expensive, some low carbo meals are even potentially harmful to the body if taken long term.

Yes, Atkins can be a long-term solution for many people. I do not follow it but a lot of people find low-carb a lifestyle that works for them. You can google low-carb forums and find out a lot more information.

Is atkins really works? I heard this one is a fad diet. You lose only when you are following diet after that you will again weight.

You don't have to gain it back. I lost my weight by combining R&D Diet Cookies with an Atkins low carb diet. Once lost, I no longer eat low carb but I've kept the weight off using the cookies occasionally.

The low carb idea is not a fad. Actually most people ate low carb until the 1980's when the 'low fat, high carb' "fad" began and, of course, our obesity epidemic too. It this interests you, I recommend a book "Why We Get Fat and What To Do About It" by Gary Taubes.
