  • veggie container gardening to my goal

I did it! I’ve planted a veggie container garden (I don't have land to work with) with snow peas, radishes, green beans, bell peppers, hot peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, swiss chard, chives, and a lot of different herbs. I intend to tend it every day (watering, mostly, but weeding and pruning as needed) and I will make my meals out of it primarily throughout the summer.

This is a workout AND a healthy nutrition plan, while I save money, too. I am very excited about this! Has anyone else had luck with veggies in a container garden? Any other options that I should have added? Advice?

That's a great idea. My one piece of advice is to water at least once every day and twice on the day's that it's hottest out. Don't forget to check the leaves for bugs like whitefly (on the underside) and give them a regular misting on the underside to keep them healthy unless you've had rain.

I've had success with green beans and snow peas in a container garden, but I had no luck with a number of others. I tried radishes last year and they didn't even make bulbs. They were just normal roots! I started off getting tomatoes this year, but then the plant just seemed to give up. I got three tomatoes and that looks like it's the extent of it. Oh well.

I have tomato plants in my actual garden, not in containers. They were really affected by the drought this year and I wasn't good at keeping them watered enough. I figured I'd only get a few tomatoes from them and then I stopped watering it...the leaves are all yellow and brown but now I have two more tomatoes coming. How is that possible?
