Old-school scales vs. digital scales. Which ones are better?

  • #2
For some reason, I always feel that the old fashioned kind with the little "stick gauge" is more accurate.

I like the digital ones if only because they're easier to read. Sometimes it's difficult to tell exactly which line the old fashioned scales are pointing at

How accurate are they when compared to the one at the doctor's office? Are either of them more accurate? I don't have a problem with either of them, I just wondered if anyone knows which will give a more accurate reading. Also, does price matter? That is, are the expensive ones necessarily better?

The old school ones where you slide the sliders over are much more accurate then the newer digital ones.

I thought so! I'm glad I hung onto my old scale!

I like the old ones because you don't have to worry about the batteries running out

I think digital scales are slightly more accurate. Some of them will even weigh you down to the half pound or quarter pound

Do you have any idea why that is? I just can't see myself putting one of those honkers into my bathroom haha Equally, I can't wait for my annual physical every year to find out how much I weigh.

I just tried a scale at a store that could tell me absolutely everything from weight to BMI, and it could even convert to kilograms if I wanted that for some reason.

I think the brand and design of the scales make just as much of a difference as the type.
